What will you learn?
During the course, we play different rhythms from the caribbean and latin america. We learn how to play the drum and approach percussion in general.
Through various technique exercises, we strengthen our hands and learn musical notes.
Playing in a group/ensemble enhances concentration and active listening skills.
Through different movement exercises, participants learn to develop coordination and motor skills while playing percussion.
Learning something new is always challenging, which is why we emphasize the importance of maintaining a positive attitude toward new challenges and, most importantly, having fun with what we do.
Jorge Garcia
I was born in Misiones, Argentina. My music is influenced by rhythms from various latin american countries – Brazil, Uruguay, Peru, Cuba, Puerto Rico – as well as Argentine folk music.
I have studied with some of the greatest percussionists of our time and in 2019 I completed my world music degree at the Academy of Music and Drama (HSM, GU) in Gothenburg, where I have lived for over 15 years.

What will I learn in the classes?
In class, we’ll learn to play any drum, whether it’s a conga, bongo, djembe, or something else. We learn to hit the drum by studying technique to get the best sound from it. We play in groups, develop listening skills, concentration, and endurance. We also learn different latin american and caribbean rhythms.
Are the classes individual or group?
The classes are group lessons.
When are the classes held?
For young people and adults, classes are on Sundays. For children, they are on Thursday afternoons.
How long is the course?
The course consists of 10 lessons, once a week. Students will have an extra day of practice included in the course so they can practice and develop what they’ve learned.
If I don't have my drum to practice on, how can I do it?
Many students struggle to practice at home because they disturb their neighbors playing. We’ve solved that problem. On thursdays from 18:00, you’ll have time to use the instruments and facilities at Skriket as much as you want — all included in the course.
Where is the course physically held?
Theres Svenssons gata 8 – Lindholmen, Göteborg.
